Rui Namorado Rosa

Born in Lisbon in 1940, holds a PhD in Physics by
the University of Oxford (1969). Worked in the National Board of
Nuclear Energy (Junta de Energia Nuclear) and in the National
Laboratory of Industrial Engineering and Technology (Laboratório Nacional de
Engenharia e Tecnologia Industrial - INETI). He has had active
interest on energy subjects since obtaining his PhD, having published numerous
scientific papers and made numerous addresses on the subject. Met King
Hubbert personally in 1975 and integrated ASPO in 2001. He is a professor
at the University of Évora being also a member of the Geophysics Center of
Évora. .
Manuel Collares-Pereira

Holds a PhD in Physics by the Chicago University. He is a senior coordinator
researcher at the National Institute of Industrial Engineering and Technology (Instituto
Nacional de Engenharia e Tecnologia Industrial - INETI) and
professor in the Department of Physics at IST (Instituto Superior Técnico).
Specialist in Solar Energy, area in which he carries out research and is author
of numerous scientific and technical papers; also performs experimental
development of products in the industrial context, being Director of R&D in
the company AO SOL. He was founder and president of the Center for Conservation
and Energy (Portugal) and of the Portuguese Society of Solar Energy (Portuguese
branch of ISES). Was President of the Association of Science Technology and
Development (Associação de Ciência, Tecnologia e Desenvolvimento -
ACTD).
Pedro Domingues de Almeida

Born in Porto, Portugal, in 1959. Electrotechnic Engineer by the University of
Coimbra, PhD in Computer Science by the University of Beira Interior (UBI).
Researcher in the area of renewable energy since 1988. Currently, professor in
the Dep. of Computer Science of the UBI. Interested in the problem of
world-wide fossil fuel availability (and, in particular, of the world peak of
oil production – Peak Oil) since 1998. Has dedicated the last few years to
study this question. Active investor in some financial markets (in particular,
in crude oil and derivative products). Consultant in the domain of oil prices
forecast. Has divulged the problem of the Peak Oil in several Internet sites
(for example in
www.thinkfn.com).
Luís Queirós

Born in 1945 in S. Pedro Rio Sêco, Almeida, holds a degree on Physics-Chemistry
Sciences by the Lisbon Sciences University where he also studied Mathematics.
He was an assistant teacher of Mathematics at the Superior Institute of
Economics in Lisbon between 1970 and 1972. He began his professional career in
the marketing field at Nestlé Portugal where he was Chief Market Research
Officer between 1972 and 1980. He was founder of
Marktest where he still is CEO. He presently heads the group that
involves Marktest, Marktest Audimetria, Mediamonitor and Markdata, with
business at 22 countries. He was one of the founders and the first president of
Apodemo for 4 years (1994-1998). He was national representative of
ESOMAR during 6 years (1988-1994). He has been dedicating his professional
activity largely to the issues related with market research studies, involved in the
sector both nationally and internationally.
Diogo Rosa

Born in Lisbon in 1973, holds a PhD in Economic Geology by the Colorado School
of Mines (USA). Worked in mineral exploration (gold, rare earths, etc) for
mining companies and the Portuguese Geological and Mining Institute (Instituto
Geológico e Mineiro - IGM). Presently, he is a professor at the Geology
Departament of the Lisbon University and a geologist at the National Institute
of Innovation, Engineering and Technology (Instituto Nacional de Engenharia,
Tecnologia e Inovação - INETI), where he carries out research on the
metallogenesis and geochemistry of the Iberian Pyrite Belt. As a result of his
professional career, he has been interested in the issues related to the
availability vs. depletion of geological resources (not only energy resources,
but also mineral resources).
Luís Moreira de Sousa

Born in Lisbon in 1978, holds a degree on Informatics and Computers Engineering
and a MSc on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) by IST (Instituto Superior
Técnico). Currently is assintant teacher and researcher at the
Department of Civil Engineering of IST, being involved in several research
projects. He researches the hydrocarbon depletion subject under the perspective
of population growth, being developer and editor of
PicoDoPetroleo.net a Portuguese language website on Peak Oil. He is
also a contributing editor to the Energy website
Europe.TheOilDrum.com.
Luís Rocha

Born in Oporto in 1980, lives in Rio Tinto. He holds
the high school science course and has a particular interest in
History. Activist member of the ecologist association G.A.I.A. (Grupo
de Acção e Intervenção Ambiental ) since
2005. Follows and researches on the subject of Peak Oil since
2004. He his author of the web log
O Pico do Petróleo and co-editor of the website
PicoDoPetroleo.net, both of information and discussion on the Hubbert
Peak.
