Welcome
This is the website of the Portguese branch of the
ASSOCIATION FOR THE STUDY OF PEAK OIL AND GAS – ASPO.
ASPO is an international network of
scientists and researchers that study the Hubbert Peak.
This association has three objectives:
-
Study the amounts of Oil and Gas available in Nature;
-
Modelling depletion taking in due account economy, technology and politics;
-
To raise awareness of this critical issue and of its dire consequences to
Humankind.
ASPO exists since 2001,
publishing a monthly newsletter compiled by Colin J. Campbell,
mantaining a web site (www.peakoil.net)
edited by Kjell Aleklett, and promoting annual Conferences (International
Workshop on Oil and Gas Depletion) in Uppsala (2002), Paris (2003), Berlin
(2004) and Lisbon (2005). It is an informal network ruled by a "constitution"
agreed among its founding members, and coordinated by a commission in which are
permanent members: Colin Campbell (Honorary Chairman), Kjell Aleklett
(President) and Roger Bentley (Secretary) and two other members by rotation
(Rui Rosa and Ugo Bardi in 2005-2006). National branches or committees have
been created in several countries, autonomous in their initiatives and means,
in harmony with the circumstances in each country, but under commitment of not
countering the principles agreed upon in ASPO's "constitution" and of
differently contributing to the attainment of its aims.
